The Lee University women's tennis team began Gulf South Conference (GSC) play with a 7-0 win over Shorter University Tuesday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis center. The Lady Flames improved to 3-0 overall, while Shorter dropped to 0-2, 0-1 GSC.

Elizaveeta Gnilozubova and Mirjana Ragastovac began doubles action with a 6-0 win over Emma Novis and Amelie Fryer at No. 3 doubles. Micaela Maiz and Maria Duarte secured the doubles point for Lee after blanking Sydney Wright and Jessica Brown 6-0. The No. 1 doubles match was left unfinished with Ashleigh Simes and Matina Ujdur leading Andrea Medel and Sharic Guiza 5-1.

Maiz took down Guiza 6-1, 6-0 to extend Lee's lead to 2-0. Ragastovac beat Novis 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Simes clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Medel.

Gnilozubova was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Wright at No. 4 singles. Duarte beat Brown 6-1 and 6-0, while Smith completed the shutout with a 6-2, 6-1 score against Fryer.

The Lady Flames remain at home to face No. 22 West Florida on Saturday. The GSC contest is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the DeVos Tennis Center.
