Cheatham County Sheriff's Office Conducted an Underage Beer Buy Operation

On Saturday, November 19th, 2022, The Cheatham County Sheriff's Office conducted an underage beer buy operation at various retail locations in Cheatham County. We would like to thank the 16 businesses which complied with the law and refused to sell alcoholic beverages to underage customers. It was encouraging to know that those clerks used every resource available to ensure that the person was of age to purchase. We witnessed clerks use everything from scanning technology to paper and pen to determine the age of the person attempting to purchase the alcohol. One clerk even requested Identification before the underage person opened the door to select an alcoholic beverage. Again, thank you to all those who are vigilant about doing the right thing and helping protect our kids!

Unfortunately, we did have 2 stores which sold alcohol to an underage person.  The clerks responsible for conducting the sale were issued citations and will have a court date in the future.

The Cheatham County Sheriff's Office is committed to ensuring that businesses in Cheatham County abide by the law and only sale alcohol to those who are old enough to purchase.
