Cheatham County Sheriff's Office Saving the World, One Call at a Time

4261e

Our week was filled with routine requests for guidance and stronger advice to please not beat his ass, even if he deserved it. Then, the next call meant seconds were counting down and responders had to get there fast.

He called saying he was ending it. City and county servants rushed to where he was found.

Self-strangulation makes darkness fast approaching. The ending of a beautiful life suddenly feels regretful, as the saved ones have told us…

Cut down quickly, responders' life saving measures were aggressively inflicted back on him. Hopefully, our saviors gave this lost soul another chance to reconsider his choice.

Because Life Really is Good.

Several medical calls came to us this week. Other calls included personal injury wrecks on the 24 & 40. Simple domestic assaults were reported in various residences, Unfortunately, an EMS servant was assaulted also while just trying to save..

One caller reported she was following her husband on Bearwallow because he was driving on revoked. She needed deputies to cuff him, stuff him and throw away the car keys, boat keys and his man cave keys too.

A senior citizen slowly walked into the sheriff’s public entrance and was led to the office where the sheriff was working. Staring at computer screens, reading the latest reports of officers who recently died in the line of duty in our country and scanning updated intelligence reports is one of many daily routines for an elected protector.

Her 85 years of living may have shown in her posture but her eyes and smile was that of a sweet teenage girl. She wanted to talk to her sheriff about an array of things. Family, friends and her children who passed, way before their time. She then marveled with puzzlement of why her husband eats the most peculiar things for breakfast.

Her talk was about issues she passionately believed in and the wrongs of today’s world. Your sheriff listened patiently and when she apologized for taking so much time, I warmly responded for her to take all the time she wanted. It was privately soothing for me to slow down, sit with her and listen as she shared her iconical but humble past.

A solemn reminder to me of what’s most important about being a “Sheriff.” It’s taking the moment to truly listen, even while others are constantly pulling at you. You are the only one they know who promised to serve and protect them, regardless

Tim Binkley is that kind of man.

He will serve us well and carry forward the torch as the 31 Sheriffs behind me did since 1856. The honor of being chosen to serve citizens of Cheatham County is beyond any reward imaginable.

Enjoy your freedoms this weekend, Team Cheatham. We may be in troubled times but just a call away to help you.
