On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, Sheriff John Fuson held a formal ceremony to recognize several Deputies who have completed their Field Training and reaffirmed their Oath of Office.

The following Deputies were recognized:Kaleb Dvorak, Carolyn Edelmaier, Doug Ells, Jacob Evetts, Robert Flathers, Tonya Goodman, Larry Hilliard, Ashley Hines, Kiley Hunt, Julia Jones, Glen Mayden, Jordan McDonald, Brooke Merritt, Rhonda Mirabal, Jeremy Rothermel, Kenneth Salmeri, Robert Sierzega, and Mario Valenzuela.

In preparation for their roles in the Detention Services and Court Services Bureaus, these Deputies completed training in numerous subjects. This included firearms training, self-defense tactics, policy and procedure, active shooter training, knowledge of state law, and a certification from the Tennessee Corrections Institute.After their initial training, they then complete 344 hours of On the Job Training at their Bureau assignments. Throughout this they are evaluated by Field Training Officers and must meet multiple benchmarks set forth by the Field Training Program. Overall these new Deputies have completed 516 hours of practical, administrative, and on-the-job training.
