Montgomery County National Disability Employment Awareness Month

0Comments

Held every October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is a great time to educate others about disability employment issues and celebrate the many contributions of workers with disabilities.

Montgomery County is spotlighting the Common Ground Café Clarksville as a partner in our community that offers employment opportunities and job skills to our disabled community.

Common Ground Café empowers our disabled community despite the challenges they may face. Progressive Directions, Inc. gives intellectual and/or developmental disabled community opportunities to be independent, supported, employed, and receive healthcare, housing and more.

The mission of Common Ground Café is to be a stepping-stone in supporting individuals with disabilities. The parent company, Progressive Directions, Inc., trains interns for employment.

On Thursday, October 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Common Ground Cafe will host an NDEAM event at their location at 350 Pageant Lane. A proclamation will be presented from County Mayor Wes Golden to one of the interns at 11:45 a.m. The public is encouraged to come by!
