Community Pitch Competition

The newly established George R Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Cleveland State Community College has just announced a business pitch competition for newly created businesses in our community. The winner can use the money for any purpose that will help their business grow and succeed, as this is a grant the money does not have to be paid back. To compete, the business must be licensed and in business for at least 6 months but no longer than two years. The business must be located in any of Cleveland State Community College five county service area, which are, Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, and Polk.

If you are interested, you can get an application at the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce or at mycs.cc/entrepreneur. All applications must be submitted by February 10th to the Chamber.

The pitch competition will be held on the Cleveland State main campus in the George R. Johnson Heritage Center on March 30, 2023. If you qualify as a finalist, you will be given coaching for your pitch from the professional business counselors at the Small Business Development Center located on Cleveland State Community College main campus.

This is a great opportunity for a local entrepreneur to get the funding that they need to take their business to the next level, so if you are the owner of a recently opened business, don’t let this opportunity pass you by.
