Dickson County Sheriff’s Office Annual Junior Sheriff’s Academy

Today kicked off our annual Junior Sheriff’s Academy and it was a good one! All week we will be hosting 20 middle school kiddos who will learn all about our department and get hands on experiences that hopefully they will talk about all year long!

We started off the morning with Sheriff Eads and Chief Deputy Murphy, then moved to Patrol Division with Lt Norris. They got to explore a patrol car, and learn about what our patrol deputies do on a daily basis. Training Captain Eggiman did a class on Tasers, complete with a demonstration which the kids loved!

After lunch we had Corporal Simmons and K-9 Deni stop by for a demonstration and although we had several volunteers, it was SRO Wood who wore the suit and took the bites. We finished the day at Creek Wood High School with SRO Lovelace teaching a safety awareness defense class which allowed the kids to work off some energy! Tomorrow is another packed day so we hope they all rest up tonight!
