The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a warning about scams. Scammers are posing as Cheatham County Law Enforcement Officials. The scammer is claiming the victim has failed to appear for jury duty and stating a warrant for their arrest will be issued unless a $2,500 fine is paid. Payment is requested via cash apps .

As a REMINDER, the CCSO will NEVER call to solicit funds or collect fines over the phone. Additionally, juror summonses are sent through the mail and communication through other mediums should be considered suspicious. Although many scams can appear to be convincing, remember to be cautious of unsolicited calls and emails, especially if the individual requests payment in the form of gift cards, cash, or cash apps .
